On January 17, 2012, in New York City, Friends of the Congo commemorated the 51st anniversary of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, a Congolese hero who brought the Congo to independence in 1960. FOTC is a global non-profit organization whose mission is to utilize the arts in an effort to promote peace and lasting change in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), formerly Zaire. Tobias Truvillion, an avid FOTC supporter, welcomed the distinguished honor of serving as the event’s master of ceremonies.
