Dubbed “one of the top 25 coolest film festivals in the world” by MovieMaker Magazine , on July 17, The Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE) awarded ‘Cigarette Soup’ the 2014 prize for “Best Feature Film.” The spellbinding Damian Voerg-directed film tells the story of a young and zealous journalist chosen to embed with a platoon of U.S. Army soldiers during the height of the war in Afghanistan. Award-winning actor Tobias Truvillion plays a starring role as volatile U.S. Army soldier Julius “Monti” Montgomery. Tobias also served as the project’s associate producer.
Soap Opera Digest recently caught up with former “One Life to Live” star Tobias Truvillion to find out the latest and greatest for the mag’s July 2014 issue.
For the students taking theater and film classes at the Dr. Marion A. Bolden Student Center on Broadway, a career in the arts might seem like an impossible dream, a goal far removed from the day-to-day reality of life on the streets of Newark.
But yesterday, teachers and a special guest reminded those young people that making a living in the entertainment industry is not as unlikely as they might think.
“[W]e were just like you. We were sitting in the seats listening to an older person say ‘don’t do this, don’t do that,’” said Tobias Truvillion, a film instructor who starred on the daytime drama One Life to Live for six seasons.
